Helping Cards
Building resilience and making your home a tidier, happier place.
We thought about a game that got kids to help clean the house. A game that got them off their phones and back in the family, talking, learning and playing their part.
Our first product, Pocket Money Cards, is a physical card game that engages children aged 4 to 14 with household chores and the real-life survival skills they’re going to need to become self-reliant, balanced, confident and competent adults. It gets them face-to-face around a table, finding ways to solve problems, collaborating and celebrating their success. Helping each other. Finding out for themselves how to do things better. We don't want to get rid of mobile phones or the Internet. Life is about balance. And we can help you get the balance right in your family, wherever you live.

More than just a game.
Pocket Money Cards is a card game that turns chores into family challenges, entertaining,
educating and engaging children from four to fourteen.
Helping Cards was inspired and informed by Harvard University’s Grant and Glueck studies,
tracking what makes healthy, happy adults since 1938.
Helping Cards is designed to get
children off their phones, build resilience and self-reliance, to bring families closer together
and promote well-being.
Plus, you get a tidier home. How good is that?
More than just a game, Helping Cards helps homes flourish.

How To Play
Helping Cards games adapt to suit every type of family in every kind of home.
Each pack includes 80 different chores as well as blank cards so you can make your own to meet your own unique circumstances.
Suitable for ages four to fourteen.
Everyone Can Play
The dealer can include themselves in the game. First, decide the rewards, and the number of completed chores the players need to earn their rewards. Next, tell the players and stick to it. The best rewards aren’t bribes. Instead, make the rewards involve everyone, whether it’s a trip to the park, their choice of bedtime story or a ski holiday. It’s what suits your household.
Remember: Before you do anything, tell the players what the reward is going to be. And stick to it. This is vital. If you can't think of a reward, ask the players to discuss what the reward should be,
Make The Game Your Own
The dealer can remove cards to suit their circumstances. If you don’t have a garden then you’ll probably want to remove the gardening cards. Some tasks may be better suited to older children, and you know them far better than we do! Just remove the cards you don’t need today. Pocket Money Cards, the first in the series, has been designed with 80 different chores to suit a wide range of household circumstances. There are blank cards so you can write your own chores, specific to your home.
Do The Shuffle….
Shuffle the pack, face down. Each player takes five cards, without seeing what the chore is.
Excuses!
If a player gets an Excuses! Card, they can give it back. If they get five Excuses! cards in one
hand, no chores! But just like real life, no work means no rewards.....
I Hate Doing That!
If a player truly, madly, deeply doesn’t like their chore, it’s ok. They can give it return that
card to the pack and take two other chore cards. They have to do both of those. Who
said life was fair?
Did You Think It Was Over?
It's not. This is possibly the most important part of the game.
Get the players to discuss how they approached their chores and how they got better at them. Get everyone talking about the positive changes that carrying out the chores have made for everyone.
The players have exercised autonomy, helped others, worked as a
team and earned the satisfaction of knowing they’ve helped other people.
You get a tidier, cleaner home, too.
How good is that? Everybody wins!
